How to stand out when you've been out of the game?

How to stand out when you've been out of the game?

That is a question I keep asking myself as I am pursuing and applying at more Ministries! The crazy thing is, I don't know... I know when I was looking a couple years ago I made sure that I had a blog site set aside just for me to talk about my accomplishments in Ministry as well as some fun and quirky facts about me and my family. I was pretty much selling myself b/c I felt I was in dire need to be in the Ministry.

As I look at different churches I am seeing more dynamic churches out there really going at it! That is so exciting to me as I read about their history and where they are going. Also as I am applying for positions I am also aware that I am possibly a needle in a hay stack. My resume is going up against someone that is currently in a paid ministry position. I mean come on....I already have gray hair coming in, but I'm still hip...

So as I send out my resume I am thinking of what are some things I can do to stand out from all of the other resumes that these churches are receiving...as I was thinking I came up with a Top 10 things I should not do when sending my resume to try and stand out.

10. Send pictures of me on the beach
-would definitely stand out...but not an appealing view
9. Send a virus that shuts down their computer
-I remember him...he cost me $125 in repairs
8. Show them my tramp stamp tattoo...
-just kidding, I don't have one.
7. Tell them that I think the NT is way overrated
6. Use a size 25 font on all emails
5. Send my resume and then call them 25 times a day to make sure they received it
-Did you get it yet?, Just checking to see if you got it?
4. Tell them how I grew up on the playgrounds of West Philly, got into a little scuffle one day and my Mom got scared. So she sent me to live with my Aunt and Uncle in Bel Air.
3. Go Green! Yeah that was my idea!
2. Will this get in the way of me becoming the Next American Idol?
1. Deep down I'm a die hard Hells Angel.

So what would you recommend to do to stand out?
